FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Can meditation really help with stress?
Yes, but it’s not a quick fix—and anyone who says otherwise is oversimplifying it. Meditation works when practiced consistently. Over time, it can help you navigate even the most challenging situations with ease and resilience, but like anything worthwhile, you get out what you put in.
What’s the difference between Vedic Meditation (VM) and Mindfulness?
Mindfulness, rooted in Buddhist traditions, involves techniques that require effort—such as focusing on the present moment through concentration or breath awareness.
VM, on the other hand, comes from the Vedic tradition and is designed for transcendence. This effortless technique allows the mind to settle beyond everyday thoughts, naturally leading to deep peace and contentment.
Both are valuable practices that require consistency, which is why we offer ongoing support to help you integrate meditation into your life effectively.
How long before I start feeling the benefits?
Everyone is different, but many notice changes right away—such as a sense of calm, improved sleep, more energy, and a deeper connection with themselves. These effects often continue to grow with regular practice.
How will I fit meditation into my life?
By building habits that support rather than drain your energy. We’ll guide you in setting up a sustainable routine that fits seamlessly into your day. But ultimately, the desire to create positive change has to come from you.
What kind of support will I receive?
Ongoing support is essential for making meditation a lasting practice. Once you learn, you’ll have direct access to your teacher, weekly group meditation sessions (both online and in-person), as well as opportunities for advanced programs, rounding days, and retreats.
Will I become too relaxed for my own good?
Not at all. Meditation isn’t about drifting through life in a daze—it’s about unlocking your full potential. By accessing deeper levels of awareness, you become more engaged, energized, and capable of handling life’s demands.
What if I don’t have a quiet place to meditate?
Noise is not a barrier to meditation. Many meditators practice on the train, in busy offices, or even in cafés. You’ll learn how to meditate anywhere, and we’ll discuss strategies for this during the course.
I can’t sit cross-legged—can I still meditate?
Absolutely. In the West, we’re more accustomed to sitting in chairs than on the floor, and comfort is key. The more comfortable you are, the easier it is to meditate effectively.
Will I have to give up alcohol, become vegan, or change my lifestyle?
Not at all. Vedic Meditation isn’t about restriction—it’s about enhancing your experiences. Many people find they naturally make healthier choices over time, but nothing is required or forced.
Do I need to believe in something for meditation to work?
No. VM is not based on belief, religion, or philosophy. It’s a simple technique that works regardless of your personal background, faith, or worldview.
What are the benefits of learning privately?
Private instruction allows for a more personalized experience tailored to your needs. The key benefits include:
Regular, personalized support – Unlike group settings, private instruction ensures ongoing guidance tailored to your progress and needs.
What if I can’t stop my thoughts during meditation?
That’s completely normal. Meditation is not about stopping thoughts but rather allowing them to settle naturally. With regular practice, your mind will experience deeper levels of rest, and over time, thoughts will feel less intrusive.
How is VM different from guided meditation?
Guided meditation often involves listening to instructions or visualizations, which can be helpful but still engage the active mind. VM is effortless—using a mantra to naturally bring the mind beyond thought into a state of deep rest.
Can meditation improve my sleep?
Yes, many meditators report deeper, more restful sleep. Since meditation helps release stress and calm the nervous system, it often leads to better sleep patterns over time.
Why is the Night Time Technique (NTT)for night and VM for the day?
VM is designed to be practiced during the day when the mind is active. It provides deep rest while keeping you alert and energized, helping you function optimally throughout the day.
The NTT, on the other hand, is specifically designed to ease the transition into sleep. It allows the mind and body to release tension in a way that encourages deep, restorative sleep, rather than energizing you as VM might. Each technique has its place, ensuring you get the most benefit from both.
Will meditation make me less ambitious or motivated?
No, quite the opposite. Many high achievers—CEOs, athletes, and creatives—use meditation to enhance focus, productivity, and clarity. It helps remove unnecessary stress, making it easier to perform at your best without burnout.
Can children learn VM?
Yes, but the technique is slightly adapted for younger minds. Children as young as 10 can learn a simplified version, and teenagers can practice the full technique with guidance.
What happens if I miss a day of meditation?
Nothing bad! Life happens. While consistency is key, missing a session won’t undo your progress. The important thing is to get back into the habit without guilt or pressure.
How is VM taught?
It’s traditionally taught in four sessions over three to four days. Each session lasts around 90 minutes and includes personalized instruction along with knowledge about the technique.
