Jet lag—also known as Jet Lag Disorder—is a temporary disruption that occurs when you travel quickly across multiple time zones. Your body, guided by its internal circadian rhythm, gets confused.

You feel wide awake when it’s time to sleep.
Exhausted when the world around you is just getting started.

 

For some, it’s a minor nuisance.
But for frequent flyers, business travellers, executives, and airline crew, jet lag can create ongoing challenges—disrupting focus, impacting mood, affecting digestion, and contributing to stress and burnout, especially when back-to-back meetings or long days follow soon after landing.

 

Meditation: A Simple Yet Powerful Reset Tool
While we can’t prevent jet lag entirely, meditation is one of the most effective ways to reduce its impact.

It calms the nervous system, slows the breath, and brings the mind back into balance.
When we meditate, we activate the body’s natural rest response—supporting better sleep, clearer thinking, and faster recovery.

Meditation also helps with in-flight anxiety, overstimulation, and fatigue—particularly after long exposure to dry air, artificial light, and the sensory overload of travel.

 

If you’re travelling soon, try meditating:

Before flying – to ease tension and centre yourself

Additional Tips for Jet Lag Recovery
Drink plenty of water—hydration is essential

And here’s a personal ritual I swear by:

After I land, I either lie barefoot on the grass or go for a short dip in the sea—then I meditate.
There’s something deeply grounding about reconnecting to the earth after so much time in the air.
Since doing this, jet lag rarely touches me.
