Since teaching Meditation (andreberrymeditation.co.uk) it’s been fair to say the majority of people we have taught have come from the Corporate Sector with the main reason being the need of a technique to help deal with Stress.

Yes it certainly can help, but Meditation along with knowledge that supports it can offer so very much more.  With that in mind we set up Executive Bliss.  A service that is specifically designed to support those within the Corporate Sector.

Where we not only offer a variety of Meditation Techniques using Breathe and Mantras which can be taught both online and in person but also a variety of other useful Bespoke Wellbeing sessions that can do everything from helping one get a Goodnight’s Sleep through to Building a Super Strong Immune System and Dealing with Challenging Situations.

Also, if there is a topic within this ever increasing field, we are not 100% familiar with we are happy to bring someone in from our extensive network which has been developed over the last 18 years.

With the end goal, to help any Individual or Organisation strive forward in Clarity, Confidence and High Energy!

Originally the term Burnout was used as a time when a rocket or jet has finished all of its fuel and stops operating.  Unfortunately, nowadays it’s used to describe an occupational mental health condition.

It is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It occurs when we feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained and unable to meet constant demands

The World Health Organisation has officially declared it as a workplace condition and in the US a recent study suggests as much as 76% employees are currently experiencing it.  It is also worth pointing out that people caring for children and parents can also suffer.

The unfortunate reality is, the more we push ourselves the more likely we are to experience it and it’s not going to go away unless we learn to be with it or better still put in preventive measures to reduce the likelihood of it from happening in the first place.

It’s a lesson that I learnt 12 years ago whilst constantly working to tight deadlines, taking onboard new responsibilities and enjoying the rewards of my successes a little too much. Eventually, leaving me in a deep dark and depressive state enhanced further by the loss of my father.

Knowing this needed to be addressed rather than suppressed I looked to use Meditation to explore this sense of overwhelm.  Personally not only have I not looked back.  But feel stronger and stronger with each passing day.

There are many other tools we can use and better still we can even use a combination of them all.  Regular daily exercise/yoga with the focus on regular rather than occasional trips to the Gym.  The cumulative gain is far greater and leads to creating a strong healthy habit.

Take up a hobby which has no relation to work.  Maybe something fun, innocent where we don’t mind laughing at ourselves whilst also learning something new.

Much has been talked about Sleep and rightfully so.  If it could be bottled up and sold it would be the ultimate wonder drug.  If you are one that struggles with sleep.  Check out Nick Littlehales and Matthew Walker both have excellent books on this topic.

A balanced diet with the possible inclusion of fasting and simply have more fun finish of this list.  For what’s life without a little fun in it!

Well there is one more and its a big one.  If you are unhappy and struggling, or if you are feeling you are heading towards that direction no matter how small, ask for help.  All too often we think we have to do it alone and we don’t, we really really don’t

Apple, Google, Nike, Deutsche Bank, Mckinsey & Co, Procter and Gamble, Unilever and Microsoft are well documented to offer Meditation programmes to their staff.

Oprah Winfrey’s team actually sit down together and meditate before starting their working day and only recently I taught an organisation in London that now has a Group Meditation slot between 4:00pm-4:30pm, Monday- Friday.

A few years ago this would have been considered excessively hippish and bordering on cultish.  Nowadays we recognise it as an essential part of any genuine wellbeing programme and rightfully so.

Mental health in the workplace has been brought to the forefront over the last few years where it is believed 1:4 of us are affected (though if you speak to many professionals they would say it’s much more) and whilst some cases are considered mild, 1:5 have called in sick rather than face work with 42% actually considered resigning.

When you think of the costs of sick days as well as recruiting and re-training staff you can certainly understand why wellbeing programmes have become such an important initiative for any organisation regardless of size (In the US alone it is believed a quarter of employers are now using “Stress Reduction Initiatives” with the goal to reduce stress and improve their reactions to it!)

But this is not the only reason why Meditation will continue to grow in the workplace as not only does it help deal with stressful situations as well as boost confidence and reduce anxiety as well as a whole string of other Health Benefits, but it can also enhance performance too.

Many Meditators I have taught are not only enjoying their roles more than ever, by feeling less stressed but are also noticing positive side effects including Increased Energy Levels and Drive, Improved Focus, Enhanced Creativity along with Greater Clarity of Thought.

They are not alone, for these are common traits associated with people who regularly Meditate and in the competitive world that we live where we are constantly pushed to be at our very best, any advantage, could indeed be a winning one.
